Top 5 antivirus software for 2020

Top 5 antivirus software for 2020

Introduction:

Many antivirus software these days is simply not good enough because cybercriminals are getting smarter and harder to fight. Many antivirus products are either useless or, at worst, malicious. Worse, Antiviruses were commonly used for two things - detecting and removing computer viruses. Nowadays it is much more complicated.

At a minimum, antivirus software should include protection against all new and improved forms of malware - not just viruses, but also other malicious threats such as spyware, rootkits and ransomware. Several antivirus providers also offer bonus features, including:

Phishing protection - to help you search, shop and bank online without worries.
Parental control -To choose an antivirus product, you must first know how well it protects against malware. But that's not all - you also need to know what additional features the product has, how good they are and whether you actually need them.
There are five types antivirus software following below:

1.  Norton 360 - The best complete antivirus solution:

Norton 360 offers unsurpassed security protection - this is my number one choice if you want to protect every device on any platform, keep your personal information safe and make sure your family stays secure online. Norton offers exceptional features on every 360 plan. Even with the Norton 360 Standard (the cheapest plan), users get real-time malware protection, unlimited VPN access, a password manager, and 10GB of secure cloud storage.

This is a really good value for a first level antivirus product. There are some great upgrade benefits, such as more licenses, more storage, and access to the best parental control software I've ever used with an antivirus program. US customers also receive an additional bonus for identity protection and credit monitoring through Norton LifeLock. Norton's powerful antivirus engine can deal with the latest online threats.

It achieved 100% malware protection when we tested our  Norton 360 review. It runs smoothly and will not slow down your device. It's also very easy to use - simple by default, with detailed customization options if you want to transform. Norton 360 is just a great product - affordable, reliable and powerful. This is the best choice if you are looking for a complete, easy to use antivirus solution.

 What we like:

Excellent results in malware protection tests.
Intuitive and efficient design.
Unlimited VPN data.
The best parental control on the market.
Generous online space for cloud backup storage.
Excellent mobile application.

What we don't like:

VPN tends to be slow.
LifeLock identity protection is only available to US customers. The password manager cannot fully compete with the best password managers.

Conclusion

If you want an easy-to-use antivirus package that provides powerful, comprehensive protection, the Norton 360 is the best solution. Norton offers unbeatable protection against malware and offers many additional high-quality additional features - its unlimited VPN, password manager, secure storage and parental controls are excellent tools that will significantly enhance your overall online security.

2.  McAfee Total Protection - The best protection for your home network:

Protection includes almost every internet protection feature you will ever need, including: World-class protection against malware - including viruses, spyware and ransomware. Safe web browsing. Encrypted storage. Password manager.

This provides an easy-to-read map of all devices on your home Wi-Fi network, giving you complete control over your online security and allowing you to block intruders. And you never know when you'll need it! A few months ago, my partner downloaded the famous "Switcher Trojan" on her Android phone. The virus infected our Wi-Fi router, giving hackers a back door to our home network.

McAfee warned me of this attempted unauthorized access and immediately stopped the attack. McAfee is a recognized market leader in cybersecurity and Total Protection is its best antivirus package to date.

What we like:

Powerful antivirus engine.
Comprehensive set of features.
Complete security control over your home network.
Great password manager.
Strong protection against phishing.

What we don't like:

Identity protection is only available to US customers.
Data encryption uses only 128-bit encryption (256-bit is the strongest).
VPN is paid extra.

Conclusion:

McAfee Total Protection offers an impressive range of high quality features. McAfee's "My Home Network" feature is extremely good, offering centralized security control over every device on your network. This makes McAfee Total Protection a particularly great product for families who want to protect all devices on their network.

3.  Avira Prime - The best for system optimization

Avira has a range of security products, but we chose for this list the highest antivirus.package of the program - Avira Prime, which has a premium version of each Avira product, including:

Password Manager Pro.
Unlimited VPN.
Premium applications for Android and iOS.

Other things are included, such as an anti-phishing browser, but we don't think it's very good, especially compared to other similar features from Norton and McAfee. System Speedup optimization tools include:

Hyperboost. Improves computer startup time.
Power Boost. Puts all available resources in one task - great for gaming.
OnWatch. Automatically cleans the computer according to preset specifications (for example, when you reach 1 GB of temporary files).

We use a fairly old system to run all my antivirus software tests (we don't want to intentionally infect my best computer with malware!) And with System Speedup my old computer worked like new - in fact, it almost looked faster than when we started it for the first time. The Avira program itself is also super light.

Even with a deep Avira scan running in the background, we could use my outdated test computer with almost no lag. This makes Avira Prime a great investment if your computer is slow or often without hard disk space.

What we like:

Strong protection against all types of malware.
 Advanced ransomware protection.
Excellent system setup tools.
Large range of features, including password manager and VPN. Works smoothly, even on slower computers.

What we don't like:

Available for 1, 5 or 25 devices - these are the only options.
Browser extension against phishing is often slow and unreliable. There is no parental control.

Conclusion:

We have always had great respect for Avira's wide range of cybersecurity tools. And Avira is well known on the online security scene with one of the best antivirus engines in the world. Something I especially like about Avira Prime is that it provides unlimited access to all Avira products. And our favorite - System Speedup - is the perfect solution for optimizing old or slow computers.

4. Bitdefender Total Security - The best because of the additional features:

Bitdefender Total Security is Bitdefender's top-level antivirus product. As well as being a powerful and highly effective antivirus solution with perfect levels of detection, Bitdefender offers one of the most comprehensive security packages. Here are just some of the rich set of features available with Bitdefender Total Security:

Network protection, including protection against phishing, fraud and spam.
 Anti-theft tools.
 Adjustment tools.
VPN.
Parenting control.
Password manager.

The list goes on - as noted in our full review, Bitdefender provides every possible cybersecurity tool, along with its Total Security plan. Of course, quality is more important than quantity, and all of these are excellent features. Bitdefender Total Security gives you highly efficient setup tools, reliable anti-theft software and a fast and easy to use VPN. Most importantly, Bitdefender's antivirus engine is extremely powerful.

We like that its Advanced Threat Defense constantly monitors my active suspicious behavior applications, and the Multi-Layer Ransomware Protection protects my files from encryption. The only drawback is that the software is relatively complex, and installation and setup take a long time to complete. But if you have the time to set it up properly, you will be rewarded with a really powerful antivirus.

What we like:

Powerful protection against malware using behavioral monitoring technology.
A very wide range of protection, performance and privacy features. Solid protection against ransomware.
Great apps for Android and iOS. Good price.

What we don't like:
Complex installation and setup process.
Some small software bugs.

Conclusion:

In addition, it does not compromise on quality - these are extremely powerful security tools that will improve your online life. I recommend Bitdefender if you are "on your own" with computers and take your online security very seriously.

5. Kaspersky Internet Security - The best for online shopping and banking:

The web is full of dangers, and your antivirus software should protect you from cyberattacks. Shopping and banking online are risky activities - without proper protection you are vulnerable to financial theft. Being a victim of banking Trojan or keylogger spyware can have devastating consequences. I know a few people who have lost thousands of dollars because they weren't careful enough when shopping online.

Many antivirus packages offer some protection for online payments, but I really like Kaspersky's "Safe Money" solution. Kaspersky can find out when you will make a payment or use online banking. You can then launch a secure virtual environment in a browser window that is impervious to malware and use the Kaspersky on-screen keyboard to avoid being detected by keyloggers. And Kaspersky's antivirus engine consistently offers some of the best results in the industry against all types of malware.

See our review of the Kaspersky Internet Security product line –

Kaspersky was 100% effective in testing against malware. In my opinion, Internet Security is Kaspersky's best plan. The basic product, Kaspersky Anti-Virus, is a solid, albeit basic antivirus application. The most expensive product, Kaspersky Total Security, includes some rather useless features and is not worth upgrading.

What we like:

Works smoothly and efficiently. Simple and attractive user interface. Great results in my antivirus tests. Exceptional protection when shopping and banking online. The vulnerability scan feature detects security vulnerabilities, such as outdated applications.

What we don't like:

VPN limited to 200 MB of data per day. The password manager is limited to 15 passwords. The cloud protection feature includes possibly disturbing data collection practices.

Conclusion

Kaspersky Internet Security is an emotional, well-designed antivirus package that achieves perfect malware detection results in our testing. We really like Kaspersky's Safe Money feature, which provides a secure environment for protecting financial information - an essential precaution if you frequently shop or bank online.
